An Alternative Population Ethics

Let’s say we believe consequentialism and utilitarianism. Roughly, we hold that the morality of an action depends only on its consequences, and the consequences we care about are only changes in the amount of happiness in the world. We wish to increase the amount of happiness, as much as possible. We are rational, so every time we act we will choose the action that we expect to lead to the outcome with maximum happiness.
